The latest trend in the firearms market is “girly” pink! Companies such as Smith & Wesson and Walther offer these pink guns, consumers, guys and gals alike. View the phenomenal “pink” gun as a cute, as a fashion statements, or less that serious. Regardless of the reactions to these ‘Pink” firearms, they continue to sell well enough to remain on the market. But why pink? Marketing ploy to entice a new stream of Customers? Not necessarily. While “pink” is viewed as a girly color, most avid female shooters prefer black. However, for those fashion-conscious shooters or for the guys who want to buy their significant other something “manly” yet feminine, a pink or colorful firearm does the trick Pink or colorful guns do pose a few concerns. These concerns include such ideals as “a pink gun doesn’t look serious” or it’s “toy like”. While pink firearms can be used as deadly weapons, most firearms, regardless of color, are not intended for such purposes. A pink or colorful firearm is highly visible, more so that it’s traditional wood or steel counterparts; however, it can still offer a disarming effect when used as intended or as needed. It’s not the color that makes the difference; it’s the performance of the firearm. As consumers have discovered, the color does not affect the performance. In a world where we have cellular phones and laptop computers available in a rainbow of color, why shouldn’t the firearm industry meet the demands of the consumers by offering their products, and not just firearms, in alternative color choices as well?
